Abby is a National Board Certified health coaching specialist at Risely Health.
In 2019, Abby’s son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (at age 7). In an instant, she went from knowing very little about the condition to consuming as much information as possible. She was shocked to learn how many variables influenced her son's T1D management on a day-to-day basis and how challenging it was to find needed support and solutions.
With empathy as her top personal strength, Abby was drawn into the field of health coaching to support individuals and guide them toward change. She is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and has worked in the health coaching industry for the last ten years, ranging from an academic medical center, to corporate health, to digital health coaching. Her work at Risely allows her passions to intersect and she is honored to work with individuals (and parents) to help them feel happier, healthier, and less alone as they navigate through life with Type 1 Diabetes.
Abby and her family live just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. While she's a fan of backpacking, camping, CrossFit, and reading through her perpetual stack of books, most days you’ll find her trying to balance being a full-time working mom while being married to a firefighter. The favorite member of their household is Van Gogh, their one-eared rescue dog.

Coaching is so much more involved, nuanced and tailored to the patient and what's actually going on with their body. It's so much more than the cookie-cutter basic info from the doctors. Abby was so caring, relatable and knowledgeable. She invested so much time in us as individuals and tailoring her coaching advice to our actual needs.
I want to thank Coach Abby for being awesome. I have learned so many topics with her! I am so glad I found Risely when I was newly diagnosed and had no clue what I was doing. She offered a personal level of understanding & compassion to her coaching, and for that I am forever thankful. 😊
Abby helped me to still manage my Diabetes in the best way possible. I no longer see myself as a victim, and I was able to set boundaries with my family members so that I can be the only one making decisions about my health. I also don’t feel that I’m alone anymore. Moreover, I feel proud of my efforts and progress because during my coaching sessions, so many factors changed in my life, including my routine, my workplace, my commute and my time of meals.
I feel much more self-worth and satisfaction, I’m doing the best I can, and I’m allowed to give myself grace on days that are a little less predictable. This program has completely changed my life, and I can’t thank Abby enough for supporting me. I feel like my diabetes is a small part of me now, rather than this daunting, depressing cloud. I’m not constantly battling against my numbers now.
